Yeah, the splash pad at Carp Water Splash Park is a five star, but is it worth the drive?
I guess it all depends on how close you live to Carp.
The Carp splash pad is quite nice. It’s the eastern most Ottawa splash pad and it’s definitely not boring with so much to do:
- There’s a giant blue tower with 5 yellow buckets that dump water on people below.
- They have 4 rings that create those walls of mist that are fun to run through.
- They have 3 water canons – red, yellow, and green – that shoot water into the center, but turn off when you point them outside of the splash pad.
- There’s a giant white flower that pours water down the petals.
- There are at least 4 single-stream water nozzles that shoot up from the ground. (Some of the water nozzles look like they’re not working.)
- There have 5 water nozzles in the ground that shoot up a circle of water that showers up in the air
- The red fire hydrant has a black button that gets things going, but be careful… water sprays out from the sides
Like I said… lots to do at the splash pad in Carp and by the time we got there on a weekday morning, there were already lots of families and friends playing at the water park.
There’s a nice shelter with lots of picnic tables and a Porta-potty by the baseball diamond. (The restroom on the side of the community center is not for public use.)
Unlike other splash pads in Ottawa, the Carp Water Splash Park doesn’t have a play structure right beside it. It’s just a splash pad … Maybe that’s why on the city of Ottawa (open data) map, it’s specifically called Carp Water Splash Park. (None of the other splash pads in the city have “water splash park” in their names.)
They have a website about the Carp Splash Pad with information and hours of operation from 2008. (Most Ottawa Splash pads are open from 9 AM to 9 AM.)
Please note that the Carp Splash Pad operating hours have been changed to reflect the wishes of the residents of Carp. The splashpad will now operate daily as follows: Open 9:00 A.M. to 12 noon, Shutdown from noon – 2:00 P.M. to recharge the water reservoir, Open 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Any questions or concerns please contact the City of Ottawa by calling 311 or email [email protected].
This is definitely one of the nicest splash pads that we’ve been to. If you can’t make it out to Carp, you might want to check out the splash pad in South Nepean in Barrhaven, Cardinal Creek Park in Spring Ridge out in the east end, or Brewer Park in Ottawa South that has a water slide. That’s right, I said water slide at a splash pad.
On our way out, we met a lovely horse named Spinner. He’s 11 and his very nice friend says he’s in his prime. They were here for a horse show, but they took a moment to chat with us before trotting off.
Mommy and Daddy got to listen to their music on the drive up so our little girl got to choose the music on the way to the next park. She went with Dora. Good choice.
