Big Bird Park Splash Pad

Big Bird Park Splash Pad is a modern splash pad located in Chatelaine Village (Orleans), Ottawa. It’s located on a little bit of green space that connects Marsha Park and Big Bird Park. Lots of street parking on Mockingbird Drive.

We checked out the splashpad on Tuesday July 9, 2019 and the splash pad was under repairs. (The city had put giant orange pylons over the ground sprinklers.)

You can tell it’s a nice splash pad, even though the water was off. read more

Deer Run Park Splash Pad

Deer Run Park splash pad is a nice modern splashpad out in Stittsville.

There are four rainbow coloured rings to run through, or you could choose to stand underneath the blue domed umbrella. (If you’re brave enough, you could stand under the 3 blue dumping buckets for a little splash!)

In addition to the ground sprinklers, there are also two water cannons to blast your siblings (or parents!)

The park has some shade – you can find two picnic benches underneath a blue gazebo. There’s also a play structure nearby, as well as a basketball court. read more

JOSEPH VEZINA PARK Splashpad

The new splash pad at Joseph Vezina Park has a gazebo which provides a nice break from the hot sun.

Lots of ground sprinklers, and we always love standing under the water umbrellas from the tall posts. It looks like a shimmering dome of water.

There is a tall green wavy post, but unfortunately it was broken when we visited.

CANTERBURY PARK Splash Pad

The splash pad at Cantebury Park has crazy water pressure.

Maybe it was because one of the little ground fountain sprinklers coming out of the soccer balls was broken, but the spray from the water jets were going up as high as the trees.

There’s also an outdoor wading pool here, but it was closed when we visited.

This is a nice little splash pad that will definitely get you wet. The sign says it’s proudly sponsored by Urbandale Corporation and it’s right beside the Cantebury recreation complex (Brian Kilrea Arena), so you should be able to use the bathroom in there when your little ones need a break. read more

RUSSEL BOYD PARK Splash Pad

We were really excited by the whale tale at the splashpad at Russel Boyd Park.

Some splashpads make you feel trapped with the sun beating down on you. This one is nice and shady. It’s right beside Blossom Park Public School

A nice modern splashpad with water cannons, archways to run throw, some dumping buckets, and yes, a blue whale tale.

QUEENSWOOD RIDGE PARK Splashpad (RENOVATED)

The newly renovated Queenswood Ridge Park is a significant improvement over the old one. (It used to be an old wooden post splashpad with a red water slide. Check out the old photos here.)

Now it’s a modern water park with two archways to run throw, a bunch of ground sprinklers spraying water into the air, 3 dumping buckets, and of course, water cannons to shoot your friends.

It’s a nice improvement – there’s still plenty of shade in the park, a large hill, fields, a running track, a rink, and of course, several play structures. read more
